Quran Classes for Adults, Online and One-to-One
Our Quran classes for adults in Singapore are one-to-one. There’s no group to keep up with. It’s just you and your teacher, live on screen, for the whole lesson.
This suits adults well, because every adult starts from a different place. Some learned a little as children and then stopped. Some never had the chance to learn. Some have recently become Muslim. Your teacher starts where you are and goes at your speed.
So far, 27 adult students have completed a course with us.
Lessons are in English. You don’t need to know Arabic to learn to read the Quran. Reading comes first, and if you want to understand the meaning later, that’s a separate class.
You choose the days and the time, in Singapore Time. Many adults take their class before work, in a lunch break or after the children are asleep.
Which Quran Class Is Right for You?
Most adults fit into one of these. Not sure which one is you? Your teacher will hear you read in the first free class and tell you where to start.
How Adults Learn the Quran
Adults learn the Quran best by reading aloud to a teacher who corrects them straight away, in short classes a few times a week. The teacher reads, you repeat, and a mistake gets fixed before it turns into a habit. Learning face to face with a teacher like this is called talaqqi.
Short classes often work better than one long class a week. Five 30-minute lessons give you five chances to read and be corrected, and there’s less time to forget in between. Two or three days a week is fine too. You’ll just move a bit slower.
Between classes, read over the day’s lesson for a few minutes. It makes a real difference.
Once a month you take a short test, and you get a progress report.
How Long Does It Take an Adult to Learn?
These are typical times at 5 classes a week. Your own time depends on where you start, how often you come and how much you practise. We don’t promise a finish date.
A good first goal for many adults is reading Al-Fatihah and the short surahs they pray with correctly. You’ll usually get there early on. Once you can read fluently, our khatam Quran guide shows how to plan your first full reading.
Common Worries Adults Have
“I Don’t Have Time with Work and Family”
A class can be as short as 30 minutes, 2 days a week. You pick the days and the time, so it fits around your job and your family. Early morning, a lunch break or late evening are all fine.
Missed a class? You can take a make-up class on a day you don’t normally have one. There’s no limit on make-up classes.
“With the kids and the housework, I could never get to a class, even though I’d always wanted to read the Quran properly. Now I learn from home whenever my routine allows. If I get stuck, my teacher is patient and helps me through it. I’m happy I can finally learn the Quran and still look after my family.”

Fees and Class Times for Adults
You pay a fixed amount each month. It depends on how long each class is and how many days a week you learn. There’s no registration fee, and your first 3 classes are free.
Most adults learning Iqra or Tajweed start with 30-minute classes. Memorising classes are 1 hour. See full fees and payment details.

What to Check Before Choosing an Online Quran Teacher
Whoever you learn with, these are fair things to ask:
- Can you see who the teacher is, with a name and a real profile?
- Does the teacher listen to you read and correct you, or mostly talk?
- Can a woman learn with a female teacher?
- Are the fees clear, with no surprise registration fee?
- Can you try a few classes before you pay?
- How will you know you’re making progress?
Online Class or Mosque Class: Which Suits You?
Mosques and Islamic centres in Singapore run good Quran classes for adults, including group classes and Quran clinics. An online one-to-one class is a different way to learn, not a replacement. Here’s how they usually differ.
If you like learning with other people and the class times work for you, a mosque class is a good choice. If your week is hard to plan, or you’d rather read without anyone else listening, one-to-one may suit you better. Some people do both.

Quran Classes for Adults: FAQs
Do I need to know Arabic to learn to read the Quran?
No. Reading the Quran means learning the letters, sounds and rules, not translating them. Lessons are in English. If you later want to understand the meaning, you can join our Tafsir classes.
I can’t read any Arabic letters. Can I still join?
Yes. You’ll start with Iqra Book 1, which begins with single letters. Many of our adult students started there.
How long does it take an adult to learn to read the Quran?
At 5 classes a week, Iqra usually takes at least 6 months. Reading the whole Quran then takes about a year. It depends on where you start, how often you come and how much you practise.
Can I learn the Quran by myself or with an app?
Apps and recordings are good for practice. But to read correctly, you need someone to hear you and point out the mistakes you can’t hear yourself. That’s what the teacher does in every class.
Can the teacher hear my pronunciation properly online?
Yes. With a working microphone the teacher hears each word clearly. A headset helps if your home is noisy. If something isn’t clear, the teacher asks you to say it again.
Do you teach new Muslims?
Yes. New Muslims can start from the Arabic letters with a patient teacher, at their own speed, with everything explained in English.
Can women learn with a female teacher?
Yes. Women are taught only by our female teachers, and you can keep your camera off.
How much do Quran classes for adults cost?
SGD 35–50 a month for 30-minute classes and SGD 50–70 a month for 1-hour classes, depending on how many days a week you learn. There’s no registration fee.
Are there free Quran classes for adults?
Your first 3 classes are free, and no payment details are needed for them. After that, classes are paid monthly.
What’s the difference between a Quran reading class and a Tajweed class?
A reading class teaches you to read the Arabic text smoothly. A Tajweed class is about saying each letter correctly and following the rules of recitation. Most adults go from one to the other, and your teacher will tell you which one you need.
How much should I practise between classes?
A few minutes each day reading over your lesson is enough to help. A little every day works better than one long session the night before class.
Do you teach in Malay?
No. Our classes are taught in English.
